Jesus Comforted by an Angel......February 23

New Testament teaches that Jesus suffered on behalf of humanity,
it never said he suffered instead of us.

Some words about Jesus's suffering

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church ~~~ '1019 Jesus, the Son of God, freely suffered death for us in complete and free submission to the will of God, his Father. By his death he has conquered death, and so opened the possibility of salvation to all men.'

From the Catholic Encyclopedia ~~~ 'in Catholic theology, the Atonement is the Satisfaction of Christ, whereby God and the world are reconciled or made to be at one.' 'the same dogma was proclaimed in the words of the Nicene Creed, who for us men and for our salvation, came down, took flesh, was made man; and suffered.'

To know that angels are all around us always, there to confort and protect us.........What a beautiful thought to have with us all day. This is beautiful micki, T.Y. Amazing, the fact that I never thought about Jesus being conforted by angels, why wouldn't he, he was in human form just like us. Eye opener for me,very thought provoking. How beautiful !!

@Anonymous: the image and the idea of angels comforting Christ comes directly from the gospels in Luke 22:43

@micki Wondering if you have a source on that quote? If you do you can email me. Thanks.

I also love this and would like to know the source of the quote before I start sharing it with others.

Am daily inspired by your site :)

I have always loved this picture. It always reminds me that Jesus understands our sufferings and the Father sent Him an Angel to comfort Him. So in turn He continually offers us the same consolation, to assist us in carrying our "own crosses."

We have such a loving Saviour! I also like to use this image in meditating on Our Lords suffering by placing myself near Him and as I gently approach Him, I just reach out and give Him a Really Big Hug, letting Him know that I love Him and am grateful for all He has done for mankind. I pray that everyone is having a Holy Lent! John K.

Thank you ALL for taking the time to drop a comment.
I am sorry to say that I have collect words and quotes and things appropriate for the blog for many years. I don't know where it came from and it obviously was not something from a saint etc or I would have noted that for reference. So please don't share it if you need confirmation, all I know is that it spoke to me, whoever, wherever or however I found it.

Love the Catechism and Catholic Encyclopedia information. Thanks.

Who isn't warmed thinking of our own angels being there for us. Such comfort.

Again, thank you to all.
