August 4.......... St. John Vianney

Patron of Parish Priests

"Prayer is to our soul what rain is to the soil.
Fertilize the soil ever so richly,
it will remain barren
unless fed by frequent rains."

I love your site Micki!
I've spent a lot of time in my life writing and reading other's writing. Your site reminds me where I should have been reading instead of New Age and philosophy/science. Well, now I'm back and I'll visit your site daily! Thank you so much for sharing this with me last week.

What a great quote! I will most definitely enrich my soil with prayer!

Hey, Micki ... I love that quote. It's perfect given that I am just about to head outside for some gardening! I think I'll pray while I'm planting my impatiens. Thanks for that!

Amen! May God grace us with more good and holy men for the priesthood like St. John Mary Vianney!

Hi Micki - Thanks so much!

Saint John Vianney is one of my favorite saints! I'm going to carry this quote in my wallet, so I can meditate on it often--thanks Micki. And I'm also going to link you to a post I just wrote--this is good!

Tom - Welcome. I'm so glad you came for a visit and that you will come again. I do hope you find a quotation that inspires you once in a while and you get a good memory from one of these holy cards. Blessings.

Anne - I think that finding enrichment for ourselves is what the artists and writers have as a goal. Thanks.

Ginny - Love that picture...praying while planting. Especially among impatients, my weakest virtue (patience) :-)

StBlog - Yes, prayers for priests...especially diocesean priests. And what a patron saint he is!

Tara - Thank you for the link. My goal is to memorize this quote also to say at Mass when the priest offers up the chalice of precious blood. Thanks.

John K. - Thank you for your words.
Glad you like the quote.

Tara - My previous message doesn't make sense because I'm writing this a day after the post and I was thinking about Wednesday's quote. St. John V.'s quote is special but not the one I'd say during the offeratory. Sorry about that.
