In the same way,
it is the nature of the Blessed Virgin

Friends,

"Sancta Virgo Virginum, O[ra] P[ro] N[obis]" means "Holy Virgin of Virgins, Pray for Us," a petition from the Litany of Loreto.

One can see the ranks of virgins behind Our Lady, who tramples the head of a serpent.

Micki, or John, or anyone :) -
Can you help me with this? Holy Virgin - I well understand. Holy Virgin 'of virgins' - I'm not sure what that means. I'm wondering who 'virgins' is referring to - in the image, and in the Litany, too, if you have that insight. Virginity is a state of purity. A different question might be - what state or what type of purity is implied? Many thanks.

This card is stunning to me. A veritable and indomitable and even charming army they are!

By the way, Micki - and I'm sorry to be so late with this - by all means, do use the quotes as you're moved and as you wish (: ! For your reference, my source is named in the first post of that series. (A link to it appears at the bottom of each post in the series.)

I believe that it is stating that she is the purest of the pure. It is a linguistic device used in much of the bible (such as Holy of Holies), to mean the most virgin or most pure.

John - One of the most beautiful litanies. Thank you.

aspiring f.o.o.L. - Thank you...I just might use that quote..it's great. Sorry I don't have any explanation to your question. Maybe someone else might.

peccatoribus - That makes sense to me. Thank you for your explanation.

Peccatoribus, I'd like you to know I'm grateful for your response. I'm so glad for the time and kindness you offered, and the information, too, which I found helpful and which makes such perfect sense. Thank you. I left a note at your site also.
