Most Sacred Heart of Jesus..........May 30

"Loving Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ,
You move hearts that are harder than rock,
You melt spirits that are colder than ice,
and You reach souls that are more impenetrable than diamonds.
Touch my heart with your sacred wounds.....
let my heart never rest until it finds You,
who are its center,
its love,
and its happiness....
Place my weak heart in Your own divine Heart...."

St. Margaret Mary Alacoque

Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
Make our hearts like unto Thine.

St. Joan of Arc (Early) Feast Day..........May 29

Today I will post, one day early, a holy card in memory of St. Joan of Arc.
Patroness of France
Feast Day May 30th

"One life is all we have and we live it as we believe in living it. But to sacrifice what you are and to live without belief, that is a fate more terrible than dying. "
" O God who made this beautiful earth, when will it be ready to receive your saints? How long, O Lord?
How long?"

*Jesus At The Door..........May 28

JESUS AT THE DOOR

I hurried through my daily chores
And didn't stop to pray,
But a knocking sounded in my head
Did you make time for Me today?

I had so much that I must do
I pushed the thought away,
And hurried on to get things done
I 've no time to pray today.
When at last my work was finished
Happy...I should have been
But within me I felt empty
There's that knocking in my head again.

Down on my knees I dropped
With Jesus I would soar,
To answer that sweet knocking
It's Jesus at the door.

Thank the Holy Spirit..........May 26

"Thank the Holy Ghost for
continuing,
through the priests,
to produce Him daily
on the altar,
as He did the first time
in Mary's virginal womb."

Translation from John.
-- [At the top:] "It is in communicating with my visible Being that you will unite yourself with my infinite Being." Come to take your turn at the holy table where the voice of the Spouse calls His friends. "All of you, come to Me! I am the living Bread, and in Me alone your souls will find superhuman food." -- [Beside the crown of thorns:] Prayer... Love -- [At the bottom:] Vanity, all is mere vanity. Pleasure! Pleasure! misleading drunkenness, which promises benefits so sweet -- ah! -- in your enchanting cup, I have found only disgusting bitterness!

to lead us surely to the Father.
In the same way,
it is the nature of the Blessed Virgin
to lead us surely to Jesus.

Who Is Jesus?..........May 22

"In Christ we have all things,
He is everything to us.
If you have wounds to heal,
He is a physician;
If fever scorches you,
He is a fountain.
Would you punish evil doing,
He is justice.
If you need help,
He is strength;
If you fear death,
He is life;
If you hunger,
He is food."

St. Ambrose

Alaskan Trip..........May 21

Hello dear viewers of this Holy Card Blog.
I want to let you know that I will be back in about 8-9 days. We are going on a cruise through Alaska and I ask you all for prayers for a safe trip and return.

I thought this Mary with Eskimo children would be an appropriate card to leave you with. Double click the card to enlarge. Note the little child with the rosary. Also, be sure to see Mary's headpiece....is that some kind of animal?

I do hope that you might leave an e-mail message while I'm gone with any comments. Please email me here.

With "bloggspot" I am able to pre-date holy cards to be posted while I am gone. So althought new cards will be posted daily, I will not be here. I hope you enjoy. Please keep us covered with your prayers.

Hugs and Prayers for you,
Micki

The Chalice..........May 20

"It is so consoling to think that Jesus,
Divine Strength Itself,
has experienced our weakness,
that He trembled at the sight of the bitter chalice,
the chalice that He had so ardently desired."

St. Therese of Lisieux
Translation from John:
"Renewal of the Vows of Baptism"

Waiting for You..........May 19

"No where on earth are you more welcomed,
no where on earth are you more loved,
than by Jesus,
living and truly present
in the Most Blessed Sacrament...
He is really there in person waiting just for you."

Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Translation from our good friend, John.
Thank you always.

[At the top:] The pause on the journey -- or the daily visit.
[At the bottom:] It is only there that my heart is at rest. Everything is taken away from my sight before that tabernacle. If someone were to ask me, "Where is your happiness?" -- I would answer, "Look! Jesus, through a miracle, has placed His home in the midst of my exile."

Feast of St. Isidore the Farmer........May 15

Patron of farmers and rural communities.

All day long he walked behind a plow and communed with God.
A simple laborer achieving sainthood shows labor has dignity, sainthood does not stem from status; contemplation does not depend on learning.

There are legends about angels helping him in his work in the fields and mysterious oxen.

St. Isidore is "my saint for this year".....see sidebar
on the left.

Pray for us St. Isidore and give us the grace to become accustomed to offer our daily toil to God. We don't have to be "country folk" to "toil" in the fields. Some toil in the kitchen or city offices.

The Rosary..........May 14

"Of all prayers, the Rosary is the most beautiful and the richest in grace; of all, it is the one which is most pleasing to Mary, the Virgin Most Holy. Therefore, love the Rosary and recite it every day with devotion."

Saint Pius X

Thanks to John for translation.
[At the top:]Gentle Heart of Jesus, be my love.
[At the bottom:] How good, how merciful -- the Heart of Jesus! How sweet for us to love it and to enjoy its benefits!

Our Lady of Fatima..........May 13

"I will never leave you alone.
My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge
and the way that will lead you to God."

"Jesus wants to establish the devotion to my Immaculate Heart in the world.

I promise salvation to those who embrace it, and their souls will be loved by God
as flowers placed by myself
to adorn His throne."

(Our Lady of Fatima: June 13, 1917)

Mary's Spirit..........May12

"Let the soul of Mary
be in each of us
to glorify the Lord
let the spirit of Mary
be in each of us
to rejoice in God."

St. Ambrose

Our Lady of Good Humor..........May 10

"Mary is more prompt than all the Saints in coming to our aid. She has a great desire to comfort us.

The moment she is invoked, she welcomes our prayers and grants us her assistance."

St. Alphonsus Lilguori

Thanks again to John for always coming up with the translations.

[At the bottom:] "Christian joy presupposes a person capable of natural joys. These natural joys were often used by Christ as a starting point when He proclaimed the kingdom of God." (From the Apostolic Exhortation, "Rejoice in the Lord," given by Pope Paul VI on May 9, 1975 [translation found at http://www.vatican.va/])

Charity..........May 9

Why Christian charity is inexhaustible.
The more I love,
the more God loves me....
The more I give,
the more God gives me.....
He whose heart is filled with love
always has something to give.

Translation thanks to John.
[At the top:]WHY CHRISTIAN CHARITY IS INEXHAUSTIBLE [At the bottom:]The more I love, the more God loves me ...The more I give, the more God gives me ...He always has whence he may give whose bosom is full of charity.

saying, A man is born."

Open the Door to Jesus..........May 7

When Jesus knocks at the door of our heart,
we basically have only four options:

Reject Him.
Ignore Him.
Appease Him.
Obey Him.

“Whoever hears my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father; and I too will love him and show myself to him. “

John 14:21

Good Shepherd..........May 6

"Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is at the same time light and love.

That is to say, He is the truth in charity."
Pope Pius XII

Lord Jesus, let me be attached to You in truth and love. Grant that I may always follow You as my Shepherd amid the perils and trials of this life.

Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament.......... May 5

Virgin Immaculate,
mother of Jesus and our mother,
we invoke you under the title of
Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
Because you are the mother of the Savior
who lives in the Eucharist.
It was from you He took the flesh and blood which He feeds us in the Sacred Host.

God ascends His throne amid shouts of joy, the Lord is taken up with the sound of trumpets, alleluia!

O Almighty God, we firmly believe that your only begotten Son, our Redeemer, ascended this day into heaven. May our minds dwell always on this heavenly home.

Feast of Sts. Philip and James..........May 3

"From St. Philip we must particularly learn an ardent love of God, and desire to see the Father. He asked only this favor, because this was his only desire. Is it ours? Do we feel it so perfect as to extinguish all inordinate earthly affections and desires? "

From Fr. Alban Butler
"The Lives of the Fathers, Martyrs and Other Principal Saints"

Sister Nealis' St. Joseph the Worker.........May 1

Today we also celebrate the feast of St. Joseph the Worker. This feast day was instituted in 1955 in response to "May Day" celebrations for workers .

This is a holy card repeat. However I think it is most appropriate for this feast.

Good St. Joseph, teach us how to work with others with love.
